Weather Impacts

http://www.climatechangeinaustralia.gov.au/technical_report.php (CSIRO Australian Government, 2000. 'Projected Australian temperature change 2000-2100' - Mark 3.5 climate model)

The impacts on the earth's weather go far beyond temperature increases. With conservative projections now suggesting that the earth's temperature will rise between 2 and 6 degrees by the end of the century it is important to consider the additional impacts of climate change.

As a result of climate change, we in Australian are likely to see:

  • significantly reduced rainfall in the southern and eastern areas of the continent

  • more frequent and more severe cyclones and hurricanes in the north of Australia

  • more heatwaves

  • less predictable rainfall patterns across the world

  • floods and droughts, including in areas not usually affected

  • unseasonal weather.
