Friends of the Earth Brisbane is committed to being a non-hierarchical, consensus based grassroots organisation.
In May 2001, FoE Brisbane incorporated as an activist co-operative, with constitutionally embedded commitments to decentralisation and consensus-decision-making. The structure of the organisation allows for semi-autonomous working and campaign collectives to pursue individual and specific issues, whilst the central hub, comprised of members active in collectives, co-ordinates the organizational level decision-making and maintenance.
At present we have four campaign collectives whose many members comprises our decision making body, the central hub. This central hub meets twice monthly to discuss and decide on issues of strategic importance to the organisation as well as the day to day running of the FoE Brisbane.
Come along to an Introduction night to learn more about the structure of FoE Brisbane and why we opperate the way we do. See this link for more information.
